- Montag just met Clarisse. This is the start of their friendship, which leads to Montag changing his opinion on burning books.
- Montag got home from his walk with Clarisse to find his passed out since she took too many sleep pills. The way that the doctor cured Montag's wife he had never seen before so he has started to speculate what they were doing since he had never seen it before
- Clarisse is telling Montag how humanity has changed for the worse. From when people used to have fun by hanging out with each other, and now the fun is hurting people or trying not to get hurt.
- Captain Beatty got a call about a woman who owned books so the firemen had to go to her house and burn it. As they were burning it the woman didn't want to leave. This made Montag wonder why she didn't want to leave her books. In the end, the lady ended up dying next to her books
- Montag or Mildred; his wife haven't seen Clarisse for four days. Mildred didn't tell Montag until just now that Clarisse is dead. Montag is now mad at Mildred for not telling him sooner.
- Montag is showing Mildred his secret collection of books, that he has smuggled from different times he has been to go burn down a house. Montag is now going to do something big but he doesn't know what yet.
