- I should be one of them! That’s what I’m meant to do!
- North Sea, 844 AD
- Yes! I’m finally on a raiding party! This will be exciting!
- On a farm in Norway lived a child named Grognak. Although food was a necessity, he was not content with trying to grow crops in the hard soil, rather, Grognak wanted to be a warrior, exploring the world on raids and returning with riches. His parents, however, did not approve of this dream, especially his father, who wanted to teach Grognak to be a great fisherman like he was.

- What sort of ship is that?
- So this is what the Mediterranean Sea looks like!
- As Grognak grew older, he began to question whether he really wanted to risk his life in battle. One day though, while watching the longships leave on their journeys, he decided that he was going to become a warrior. Try as they might, his parents couldn’t convince him otherwise. The 23 year-old was going to carve out his own path!
- Seville, 844 AD
- The next year, Grognak bid his longhouse goodbye and boarded a journey to the Mediterranean Sea, to raid a city called “Seville”. It was the most excited he’d ever felt. Why hadn’t he done this sooner!
- Valhalla
- The farther south they went, the hotter it became. The heat and humidity of the Mediterranean was in stark contrast to the cold that Grognak had always known, and he began to wonder how anyone lived down here. To reach Seville, the fleet would have to sail up the Guadalquivir, so when they reached the mouth of the river, Grognak knew his first battle was approaching.
- It almost looks like one of those… Longships! They’re Vikings!
- Eventually, the fleet reached the city, and the berserkers descended upon it, attacking everyone. It was then that Grognak realized that real combat was much different than how he imagined it would be. He was
