- It started when martin Luther was walking home and was almost struct by a lightening. At that time, he was studying theology, he thought God didn’t like him. Luther being afraid that God didn’t like him and was trying to kill him, He devoted his life to God and become a monk to stay alive.
- Luther joined the church, and he was fine for awhile then one day he found out that the church was selling indulgences at the church. Luther didn’t like what they were doing so he went out to protest.
- Luther then protested against the church. After he protested the pope was very mad and took away Luther’s church membership which made Luther even more angry.
- The pope told Luther that he had to go to Germany. When they arrived there, the pope said that Martin Luther had to recant his beliefs. He refused to do what the pope asked him to do and the pope got mad.
- Luther went to go hide in a castle and only a few people knew where he was. The castle was Prince Fredricks of Saxony castle. They pretended to kidnap Luther so no one else would try to do the same.
- While Luther was in hiding, he translated the bible into German. That was against the church laws so when the pope found out about what Luther had done he was very mad.
