- Odysseus returns home and is pampered. He is also given new strength from Athena.
- Penelope making sure it is Odysseus tests him on knowledge only he would know. She talks about moving their bed.
- In a rage Odysseus describes how the bed has been built from the root of an olive tree and how it is impossible to move unless by a god.
- After she truly knew that Odysseus had retuned home she ran to him crying for making him rage.
- Odysseus finally breaks and starts to cry with Penelope in his arms.
- At the end of book 23 they tell each other what happened when they were gone.
