- The Law of April 6, 1830, angered Texans and they knew they did not want to abide by these new rules, but they also knew they would have to go about making a petition responsibly.

- Austin wrote a letter to the Tejano leaders in San Antonio suggesting the establishment of a new state government.The letter was intercepted as Austin was returning home.He was arrested and accused of treason, but never formally charged or tried in court.
