- Skin has three layers. The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone. The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands. The deeper subcutaneous tissue (hypodermis) is made of fat and connective tissue
- I just learned about skin anatomy at college. I don't really understand . Perhaps can you explain ? Since you are a science teacher .
- Storing lipids (fats) and water. Creating sensation through nerve endings that detect temperature, pressure, vibration, touch, and injury. Controlling water loss by preventing water from escaping by evaporation. Providing water resistance by preventing nutrients from being washed from the skin.
- I see. What are the main functions of human skin?
- And also you should know that the function of the skin it provides a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal and physical injury and hazardous substances. Prevents loss of moisture. Reduces harmful effects of UV radiation. Acts as a sensory organ as it touch, detects temperature.
