- I can't believe that Garvey is doing this. He must think that I'm dumb or something. He's trying to teach me a lesson with baking supplies. This whole the ingredients taste bad on their own, but together they make a delicious cake. Does he really think that my horrible life could mean something? Whatever his cake didn't really take good anyway.
- Garvey sat Cole down in his gloomy room. There was a mangy pigeon outside the window chowing down a worm it had caught. Then Garvey laid out all of the ingredients to cake in front of Cole. He proceeded to have to Cole taste all of the nasty ingredients by themselves. Cole took an extra big spoonful of salt to show Garvey he meant business. While Cole was thinking about how stupid this is, Garvey pulled out a cake and had him taste it. When Cole was done eating a slice of the tasty cake, Garvey explained the lesson to him, hoping that Cole would listen and change his attitude.
- Garvey sat Cole down at the table. He put all of the ingredients needed to bake a cake on the table and had Cole try them all individually. As Cole was trying the ingredients, Garvey was thinking about if Cole would take his lesson seriously or not. When Cole had finished trying all of the ingredients, Garvey placed a cake in front of him and asked him to take a slice. Garvey was hoping that Cole understood this important lesson.
