  • Since Rome was built on banks of the Tiber river, Rome was encircled by seven hills, Aventine, Palatine, Capitoline, Caelian, Esquiline, Quirinal and Viminal. Romulus was a true king and Rome was named after him only. Since Romans were very efficient people they developed concrete, newspapers, books, calendars, and central heating as well. People would be entertained by Gladiator fights, where they put people in a ring and fight to death! These events would occur in huge stadiums, about the size of a football stadium now. Back in the day it was the most famous sport in Rome. People in Rome built 55,000 miles away roads before! Lastly, after hundreds of years went by ancient Rome, the original city of Rome was actually located underground!!! OMG!! Since they kept on building buildings and buildings, on top of it.
  • The Romans originally got their ideas from Ancient Greece and Greeks! Since they worshiped many Greek gods and goddesses and since they were well aware of Greece and Greeks. Due to being heavily influenced by Greeks they were able to create certain borrowed designs like they actually often copied the Greek's sculptures before creating their own that is why the beautiful sculptures of Greek were actually inherited by the Romans. They also had similar language since Southern Italy (Magna Graceia) already spoke Greek, majority of the lands conquered by Romans spoke Greek. Speaking of language the reason why Latin doesn't have double negatives in it's grammar is because ever since the Romans change their language so that it was in lines with the rules of rhetoric (expression) as set forth by the Greeks. Lastly, the Romans also adopted Greek literature, with a strong impact, evident in the playwrights like Plautus and Terence. They were Roman comedies, classical drama and theatre.
  • People in Rome depended on the Tiber river because that would give them freshwater, help them to grow crops, irrigate, and help them with agriculture. They also depended on the mild climate, since it enabled them to grow wheat, grapes and olives. This abundance of food allowed the economy to grow and prosper, just like family trees. It made year-long agriculture, since it was near to water. Romans adapted to their climate by using it to their benefit to economic productivity in an agrarian society. They changed the environment by water by building extensive water distribution and sewage networks. They took the clean water a hundred miles away to population centers where it was distributed to the homes and businesses of those who could afford it. Aqueducts they called it. They also changed the environment in a bad way by their livestock which caused immense damage to the landscaped of ancient Italy and beyond. The Romans never really had any idea of what overgrazing meant. Due to having many herds of cattle, sheep, etc., it led to the destruction of their own environment.
