I have been charged with a felony for breaking andentering and I have no lawyer!
No because you are not a poor defendant.
Can I have a lawyer?
Fine then, I will represent myself!
You have been found guilty and will serve 5 years in jail!
You know what? I will file a habeas corpus and take this to the top court in the judicial branch, the Supreme Court!
Due to the precedent, Gideon's habeas corpus relief has been denied!

As the chief justice, the question is, does the Sixth Amendment's right to talk to people in criminal cases go to people who committed felonies in state courts?

The 6th amendment gives everyone the right to a publc and fast trial so I would say yes like the rest of the justices
The 14th amendment also helps with this case because it says that all people have, "due process", which keeps people from being wrongly taken of thier life, liberty, or property.
Thank goodness for the 22nd amendment so I can make this decision without losing my lob!
So it is decided that the Constitution says that states have to have lawyers for people in court who cannot afford them!
Since the judges at the time of the court case Gideon v. Wainwright used judicial restraint, it set the precedent for all states that every person on trial has the right to a judge and be represented!
