  • We're going to have to measure you body composition to see how physically healthy you are.
  • Having total wellness is important for the rest of our lives. Having this means that you are doing well both physically, socially, and emotional/mentally. How to assess the physical aspects is how you're maintaining a healthy weight is through body type and body composition. Be careful, however, and make sure you do proper techniques to prevent injury.
  • Preventing Injuries
  • One way to assess how well you're doing physically is through your body type. There are three body types, ectomorph, endomorph, and mesomorph. Ectomoph is defined as small bone size, low percentage of body fat, and little amounts of muscle size and mass. Endomorph is known as high percentage of body fat, large bone size, and little muscle size and mass. Mesomorph is characterized by having medium-to-large bone size, large amounts of muscle size and mass, and low-to-medium percentages of body fat. 
  • Common Injuries
  • Body composition is when fat, bone, muscle, and water is described as percentages in your body. Having a healthy body composition means that you have a low percentage of body fat and high amounts of fat-free mass. The benefits of having a healthy body composition includes; higher metabolism, stronger bones, longer life, prevention of certain diseases, etc. Factors that may hinder a healthy body composition is; your metabolism, eating habits, activity level, caloric balance, etc.
  • Overall
  • In order to have physical wellness you not only need to exercise and have a healthy diet, you also need to prevent or lessen the chances of injury. Getting injured not only can lead to something medical, it can affect you for the rest of your life. For example, you could get a concussion while playing football, leading you to have memory loss along with other complications. Ways to prevent injuries is doing warm-ups to lessen your chances of getting hurt, such as stretching, before doing any type of physical activity. If you do get injured, seek medical attention right away instead of just "walking it off". This can lead to your injury of being worsened.
  • Even if you do warm-ups and the such injuries will happen sooner or later. Common injuries that occur while doing physical activities include; muscle sprains, muscle strains, blisters, and shin splits. If you experience either muscle sprains and/or muscle strains, seek medical attention. If you have any of these common activities, cease from the activity and take a break, seek medical attention if need.
  • Having total wellness means being physically, socially, and emotionally/mentally well. For the physical side of things you not only need to be physically active and have a healthy diet, but you also need to know how to take care of yourself and know what to look out for when participating in physical activities.
