- Meet Joseph, Bobby, and Charlie. All three students are avid scientists and are in the fifth grade at the Marie Curie school of Sciences!
- One day, the students are playing kickball when they realize the size of the ball changes when they're inside and outside. Confused, they ask their teacher why this happens, and she's not sure either!
- With kickball #1, Charlie discovers that as he places the ball in warm water, the molecules in the ball move around more and the ball seems to re-inflate! With kickball #2, Bobby discovers that as he squeezes the ball, the volume decreases and the pressure within the ball goes up. Even though the ball is smaller, it feels like it is over-filled!
- Once home, they ask their parents, who are also unsure! They decide to work in Joseph's lab and experiment with the balls, cooling and heating them to see what happens.
- The boys name their new science laws after themselves, calling them Charle's Law and Boyle's Law.
- Joey, realizing that there is nothing left to be discovered, is quite disappointed. Charlie and Bobby don’t want to exclude their friend so they brainstorm ways to combine the laws, until they come up with what they call “Gay-Lussac’s Law”, after Joey.
- Once they oh-so creatively name the remaining law Gay-Lussac's Law after their friend, they take their findings to the teacher who is amazed by her students!
- The school awards the Marie Curie Award for the greatest discovery within the school! Joseph, Bobby, and Charlie remain close friends throughout their careers as professional scientists and go on to make many more great findings!
