- The Myth of Pandora's Box
- Zeus ordered Hephaestus to make him a daughter out of clay, the first women made out of clay, to send down to marry Epimetheus.
- He did this because of his anger at the brother of Epimetheus, Prometheus, who had stolen fire and given it to the mortals. Zeus gave Pandora, his daughter, as an act of revenge. For you see, he sent her down with a box.
- Zeus gave the box to Pandora and the key to Epimetheus. He also made Pandora promis never to open the box, but contrary to his words, he wanted Epimetheus to open the box and release the horrors it contained. Pandora wanted to open the box but her husband didn't trust Zeus, saying he was a "tricky one".

- Pandora, overcome by curiosity, took the key in the middle of the night and opened the box. Out flew all the bad things that people had never experienced before, sickness, hate, envy, and disease all flew out of the box and into the night. She slammed the box shut but it was too late, her husband was awoken by her sobbing.

- Pandora explained to him what happened and told him that she had tried to capture the horrible things, but that they had all excaped. She the opened the box to show him how empty it was. However, the box still had something within it, Hope. Hope thanked her for being set free and left to join the world, a world that now held many horrible things -- and Hope.
