  • The Handicapper General comes in and shoots Harrison and his "Empress".
  • Get your handicaps on now!
  • I forget. Something real sad on television.
  • Back at Harrison's home...
  • You've been crying. What for?
  • Vonnegut uses these scenes to ridicule multiple notions of human society. The first notion is that the government can truly make everyone equal. The first to images emphasize how the government could try making everyone equal by handicapping ordinary or extraordinary people. However, the images also show how this is cruel and unrealistic. The third and fourth images show how revolutions are not as romantic as they are usually portrayed. The images show how Harrison, the leader of the revolution, is in fact crazy and he ultimately fails in the end. Television’s worth is the final notion that is attacked by Vonnegut through the final image. The final image shows how Harrison’s mother is crying but is so disconnected from the world due to the TV that she does not even remember why she is sad. This shows how people can become disconnected from reality due to television. These are the human notions that are ridiculed by Vonnegut through these scenes.
