- King George III was not a godly man. He did not want the early settlers to have the freedom they needed to settle in America. He taxed them until they almost had nothing.
- The colonists cannot feel free to do as they would like! Tax them more!
- Tax collectors were sent to collect more taxes. It was not a welcomed transaction, but the colonists payed anyway.
- Father! Here comes the soldiers to collect our taxes!
- The early settlers were concerned and afraid of what else King George III might do. There had to be a solution.
- Thomas Jefferson wrote a document called the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin and John Adam's edited it.
- I think that's excellent! Let's just change a couple of things here...

- The final draft of the Declaration of Independence was written and publicly read on the steps of the State House on July 4, 1776.

- It was signed on August 2, 1776 and rewritten on parchment. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
