- What should we eat tonight?
- I feel llke mussels tonight.
- How were the mussels?
- I don't think they were fresh
- My stomach hurts so bad! I think I might throw up! Those mussels made me sick! I will never eat them or any seafood ever again!
- Classic Conditioning is a learning process that occurs when two stimuli are repeatedly paired: a response which is at first elicited by the second stimulus is eventually elicited by the first stimulus alone.
- How are you feelin? should we go out to eat?
- I feel better! Sure!
- The neutral stimulus was the mussels because it did not evoke a response ( no repsonse) until it was paired with the unconditioned stimulus ( food poisoning)
- Let's go get some shrimp.
- Oh No! I can't!~ I can't ever eat seafood again!
- Food poisoning is the unconditioned stimulus.Being sick is the unconditioned response.
- How about Italian?Maybe lasagna?
- Sure! Sounds Great!
- The mussels are now the conditioned stimulus and the sickness is the conditioned response.
- Generalization: The thought of any seafood makes him sick,not just the mussels
