- But then there were gunshots, since soldiers at the refugee center shot the remaining survivors. This killed Cassie's dad, leaving her the only survivor in the camp. (but the people in the bus survived as well.)
- After Cassie's mom died of disease during the third wave, her dad took her and her little brother, Sammy, to a refugee center. They put Sammy on the bus, leaving Cassie and her dad behind.
- Aliens are actually in control of the camp and they are forcing the residents of the camp to kill humans instead of aliens. Ben and Evan's team takes to the woods while Ben goes back to save Sammy.
- After Cassie was shot in the leg by a Silencer, (aliens who hunt humans), she was rescued by Evan Walker. He knows Ben Parish, Cassie's high school crush, who is also taking care of Sammy in a camp.
- Cassie arrives at the camp and runs into Ben, since they are both trying to save Sammy. They almost get caught by the aliens, but Evan steals a car and saves them. They all manage to get away and save Sammy.
