- Prospero uses magic to conjure a storm (the tempest) and torment the survivors of a shipwreck, including the King of Naples and Prospero's treacherous brother, Antonio.
- Prospero admits to being the one who conjured the storm. By doing this, he also reveals his past to his daughter Miranda..
- Alonso, Antonio, Gonzalo, their men were wandering the island. Ariel plays a song to make them sleep expect for Antonio Sebastian where Antonio convinces Sebastian to kill Alonso, but failed. Caliban runs into Stephano Trinculo to find out they are lost sailors.
- Ariel, with the help of other spirits, tricks Alonso, Sebastian, Antonio and Gonzalo into believing they have seen a wonderful banquet.
- Ferdinand falls in love with Miranda. Prospero sees this and asks the spirits to put on a play for them.
- Prospero lures everybody into the same place and forgives everyone for their betrayal. At the end of the play, Prospero gives up his magic and asks the audience for forgiveness.
