Scholarship and learning
HI, I am a teacher
As with all scholarship, some Muslims studied geography simply out of curiosity, but it had practical uses, too. For example, Muslims were able to create extremely accurate maps due to the study of geography. A scholar in Muslim Spain even produced a world atlas, with dozens of maps of lands in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Art and music
Today we are here with on of Baghdad's most beloved painters.
Hi! I am a painter who specliaizes in shapes.
Muslim doctors established hospitals that were open to all people. By the 10th century, Baghdad had at least five hospitals. Many hospitals served as teaching centers for doctors in training. Anyone who needed treatment could get it at these centers, but there were also hospital caravans that brought medical care to people in remote villages.
Recreation
We are here playing chess which is a very traditional game
Scholarship and learning were very highly valued in Islamic culture. Muhammad is reported to have said, “The ink of scholars is more precious than the blood of martyrs.”

Muslims earned fame for their decorative arts. Early in the history of Islam, Muslims did not favor the use of images of humans or animals in religious art. Instead, artists referenced shapes and patterns found in nature and geometry to create marvelous designs and decorations.
The game of chess was probably invented in India. Persians introduced the game to the Muslim world in the 600s. It quickly became popular at all levels of society. Caliphs invited chess champions to their palaces to play in matches. Players enjoyed the intellectual challenge that chess presented.
