  • in 1661 king Charles ll of England commissioned Sir Christopher to create a serious of microscopical studies wren obliged, but after a few presentations found he didn't have the time and gave up the project to an upcoming scientist with something of a knack of drawing and mechanics. Me Robert C. Hook (1635-1703) was 23 years old when I took the assignment from wren and joined the royal society of scientists. I applied my technical abilities to invent ways of controlling the height and angles of microscopes. King Charles only requested insect studies, but I went beyond his commission and looked at everything from fabric, leaves, mica, glass, flint, and even frozen urine. I did things like let a louse suck from my hand to observe how my blood traveled through its innards. I also stung myself with nettles to see where and how the poison was pumped into my hands . When I viewed a thin cutting of a cork I discovered empty spaces contained by walls, and termed thempores, or cells. The termcellsstuck and I gained credit for discovering the building blocks of all life.
  • Me Schleiden was born in Hamburg, Germany, on 5 April 1804. My father was the municipal physician of Hamburg. I pursued legal studies at the University of Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany, and he graduated in 1827.I established a legal practice in Hamburg after a long period of time of emotional stuff I changed professions I studied natural studies at the University of Gottingen Germany, but transferred to the University of Berlin in Berlin, Germany, in 1835 to study plants. Johann Horkel, my uncle, encouraged me to study plant embryology.In Berlin, I worked in the laboratory of zoologist Johannes Müller, where I met Theodor Schwann. Both me and Schwann studied cell theory and psychogenesis, the origin and developmental history of plants. we aimed to find a unit of organisms common to the animal and plant kingdoms. we began a collaboration, and later scientists often called me and Schwann the founders of cell theory.

A self-educated child prodigy, he showed technical aptitude by recreating the entire inner workings of a clock out of wood, then assembling it to run. Hooke also taught himself technical drawing, a skill he used to capture observations through his microscope.1Hooke's Drawing of his Microscope from Micrographia.Hooke applied his technical abilities to invent ways of controlling the height and angle of microscopes, as well as mechanisms of illumination. Variations in light allowed Hooke to see new detail, and he used multiple sources of illumination before producing any single drawing. Hooke's technical efforts created magnifications of 50x, enabling insight to a world not yet known in the 1600s.1
