  • September 16, 1862On the afternoon of September 16, Union general George B. McClellan sets his army in motion, heading east of Lee.
  •  OnSeptember 17, 1862, McClellan ordered his troops to attack. The Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest one-day battle in American history.
