- Anthony and Cleopatra committed a Double suicide
- Augustus: I now declare my name as Augustus Caesar and I need to cleanse the senate from untrustworthy people
- Context: Guards taking away people from the crowd
- The only trustworthy people in this world are my supporters.
- Senate: We took an oath of allegiance to Augustus as Emperor
- Context: Guard brings in Augustus supporters
- Your roles are consul, tribune, chief priest of the civic religion and the public censor. Do you think you can handle all that?
- Of course I can! I am Augustus Caesar
- I gladly accept the authority of tribune for life
- Citizen: We now call you “Prince of Peace!”
- I established peace, tolerance, and stability to protect my Roman citizens
- Citizen: We thank Augustus for establishing peace and moving Rome away from war.
- To make sure we distance ourselves away from battle, I have made the decision to strengthen our soldiers loyalty by guaranteeing them that veterans will gain land and other rewards
- I will also create Rome’s army full of my supporters so I know no one will betray me
