Alright, kiddos... here's the plan. We divide the legislature into two bodies, the Senate and the House of Representatives, each with proportional representation. Seems fair enough, don't it?
NO, NO, NO, NO, AND NO! THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS! THERE NEEDS TO BE 2 HOUSES OF CONGRESS AND THEY MUST BE ELECTED WITH APPORTIONMENT WITH THE POPULATION!
Well, the Constitution says Federalism is the way to go. There's going to be a general government with regional governments in a singular political system. One person will be president and certain laws will undergo the Amendment Process, where they will be accepted or vetoed.
And the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches will have the Separation of Powers, which ensures that they will not be conflicted with one another. You're a genius!
Ah, don't mention it. After all, this is indeed a Great Compromise. Now each of the states has to follow the rules of the Consitution and they'll be okay. No more of this "Articles of Confederation" nonsense. Each and every citizen of the United States will be active through popular sovereignty.
