  • (January/February)The ID will meet with the Supervisors, SME's and other administration to establish specific goals and objectives. Additionally, the ID will ask for knowledge on the districts demographics and overall student and teacher analysis.
  • Grade Specific Professional Development
  • "How has Math Talk implementation been going for your classroom?"
  • "We noticed that many of the students who were not motivated in the subject have really blossomed!"
  • MARCHTo kick-off the implementation of the framework with the established goals, a 2 part professional development will be planned. The initial meeting will be to introduce the framework and its functionalities, where the second meeting will be to initiate the purpose of Math Talks and its alignment with the framework. Instructional resources are provided at this time for instructors to utilize and develope observations. A sub goal is established to generate data for next meeting.
  • Improving Math Talks
  • "What does a successful math discussion sound and look like?"
  • APRIL-JUNEFollowing, the teachers will begin using the resources provided to administer Math Talks within the classroom. Here is where the teacher will use the Kemp framework to incorporate the discussions based on student analysis, assessments and the focus standard. Areas that are working and that need support will be recorded to prepare for sub-goal check point.
  • PLC Framework 
  • An area in the framework we wish to expand on is achievement of generating successful evaluation instruments.

  • AUGUST/SEPTEMBERPrior to the start of a new school year, a grade specific Professional Development will be conducted to share observations of guided Math Talks. This will allow for a more specified conversation meeting the instructors observations and analysis. A building leader will be established to be the stream line for communication between ID and instructors, to establish ongoing support and resources. New sub-goal established & suggestions for development with new students.
  • SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBERWith additional supporting resources, instructors will generate new analysis with a new year of students. The learnings from the previous year will still be utilized while gaining perspective on the flexibility of the framework and how assessments can be generated throughout the model for improvements.
  • "Respecting one another""Using accountable talk in your responses and rebuttles"
  • NOVEMBERThe timeline will conclude with a PLC meeting that contains the grade level instructors, the ID and supervisor/SME's. With analysis developed during a full school year, a instructional guide can be created and will continue to be adjusted moving forward during weekly PLC's. A PLC discussion guide will be generated to make useful adjustments and proactive analysis. The SME's/Supervisors will administer data to see where growth was and establish new goals.
