- What is climate?
- Climate is when long term patterns of weather or atmospheric conditions, over many years
- There have been a bunch of ice ages on Earthgoing back millions of years
- How many ice ages have there been?
- The air bubbles trapped inside of ice cores tell us what the atmosphere was like at that time (temperature, carbon dioxide, dust).
- How do geologist know about the past climates?
- Milankovitch cycles are are slight shifts in Earth’s orbit. For example when dinosaurs were alive then it got hot and they died; After ice ages were happening often so the world get cold and then hot and then cold again.
- Talk about:
- Volcano Activity
- Volcano activity can be dangerous in different ways because Temperatures drop because lack of sun
- Vegetation get destroyed because the chemicals from the volcano made acid rain which killed plants.
- Dinosaurs suffered because the water and food were poisoned from the volcano's chemicals
- if you compare ocean currents from now to 100 MYA you will see how the ocean currents have changed
- so that means that Europe would have been colder because the warm current used to not pass by there
