- Mr.White and Mrs.White play chest in their living room on a dark, cold night. The two then receive a visit from their old friend Sergeant Major Morris.
- Climax
- Mr. and Mrs. White are introduced to the Monkey's paw by Mr.Morris. They are told the story of the Monkey's paw and warned of the dangers and harm that it could bring. But, Mr.White does not listen. For their safety Mr.Morris throws the paw in the fire, but Mr. White retrieves it.
- Falling Action
- Mr.White forgets all of Mr. Morris's words and decides to make a wish for 200 pounds. Later that evening, a worker from their son's Herbert's job shows up and tells them their son was caught in the Machinery and they recieve a check for 200 pounds.
- Resolution
- After the death of their son, they use their 2nd wish to wish for their son back. Later the night, all of the sudden their is a knocking on the White's door.
- The knocking becomes louder, but they are afraid to open it because of how Herbert may be. Mr.white doesn't allow her to open the door, while he searches frantically for the paw to wish for the knocking to stop. As Mr.White makes the wish Mrs.White unlocks the door.
- Once Mrs.White finally opens the door, nobody is there.
