  • Paul and His Case is Presented
  • "We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world."
  • Paul's Defense
  • "I gladly make my defense. I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect.
  • Felix and His Order
  • “When Lysias the commander comes, I will decide your case. For now, you're on house arrest."
  • After being arrested, Paul is brought to court in front of the governor, Felix. Paul is charged with the desecration of the temple. Tertullus, the lawyer against Paul introduces the case, first by praising Felix, saying "Everywhere and in every way, most excellent Felix, we acknowledge you with profound gratitude." Then, he explains what Paul did wrong.
  • Paul proudly defends himself and explains how he had not been in Jerusalem for some time and had brought gifts to the temple to give to the poor. He reminds everyone in the room that they all have the same beliefs, and that the men charging him with breaking the law do not actually have any proof of him doing so. He ends by saying, "It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today."
  • After the trial, the verdict was not to be announced for a bit, as a conclusion had not been made. Felix generously gave Paul a special privilege. He ordered the centurion to give Paul some freedom and to let his friends take care of him while they await the results of the trial.
