- This is Kamala Brown. Kamala is 15 years old, lives in Los Angeles, and is extremely hard-working. She has also been playing the piano her entire life. Throughout her young career, she has been working towards the National Young Pianist Certificate of Excellence (NYPCE), given to one outstanding pianist each year. She finally now has the talent to compete for the prestigious award.
- No way you have a shot at qualifying Brown! You're looking at the next Beethoven right here! I'm gonna win baby!
- YES! I QUALIFIED!
- YES! LET'S GO BABY!
- Turner Thompson, it's your turn!
- This is Turner, Kamala's rival, and a resident jerk . Just like Kamala, he has been playing piano since a very young age. Both of them are outstanding pianists, and they are currently waiting for the email to see if they qualified for the NYPCE.
- Both of them qualified. This marked the start of a fierce competition. Kamala was so excited that she would be able to display her passion at the highest level, but all Turner wanted to do was to beat her.
- Please win, after all these years...
- And the winner of the 2021 National Young Pianist Certificate of Excellence is...
- I need to beat her...
- Kamala and Turner made the trip to New York City, where the competition was being held, and though they didn't admit it, they were both extremely nervous and anxious for the biggest moment of their young lives.
- After what seemed like eternity, it was finally Kamala's turn. Despite her having so many butterflies in her stomach, they instantly melted away when she felt the ivory, white keys. She decided on to play her favorite classical song to play, and the whole world disappeared. It was just her and the piano.
- Both pianists put on outstanding performances, and were desperately hoping that they would have the better scorecard.
