- In 1754 Great britain ordered the colonies to have a conference in Albany, New York with the iqronsis people anticipating a upcoming war with the French. The colonist once again tried to convince them to join an alliance against the French. The iroquois refused but did offer some support to the englishmen.

- That conference also introduce the Albany Plan of Union led by Benjamin Franklin a community leader from pennsylvania at the time. The Plan of Union proposed that the colonies form a federal government. He suggested that the colonies form a union for their defense, to be headed by a royally appointed president and a legislature elected by the colonial assemblies. This government, which was given the power to tax, would be in charge of Indigenous Peoples relations, could raise an army and navy, declare war, and arrange peace treaties.

- This plan was sent out to the colonial assemblies for their approval. Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin created his second political cartoon “join, or die” in efforts to push the colonies into wanting to join the union.
