  • Hello there! I'm a farmer who grows crops for selling and earning purposes. What I do is called 'Commercial Agriculture'. Let me show you the types of such agriculture and explain it to you.
  • This is a paddy field, and example of extensive agriculture. Extensive agriculture is common in places with abundant land but sparse population. The farming operations are fully mechanized and there are very few human laborers. Crops like corn, barley, wheat, oats, rye, and cotton are grown with this type of agriculture, wheat being the most important crop.
  • This is a cotton field, example of plantation agriculture is a type of commercial farming in which a single crop is grown for the entire year. This type of farming requires large amount of labor and capital. The major crops grown during plantation agriculture are Tea, coffee, sugarcane, cashew, rubber, banana or cotton. Major plantations are found in the tropical regions of the world.
  • This is a potato farm, example of mixed agriculture. Cattle is also reared here. Mixed farming is a type of farming which involves both the growing of crops and the raising of livestock. Another example, a mixed farm may grow cereal crops such as wheat or rye and also keep cattle, sheep, pigs or poultry. Often the dung from the cattle serves to fertilize the cereal crops.
  • Pastoral farming is aimed at producing livestock, rather than growing crops. Examples include dairy farming, raising beef cattle, and raising sheep for wool. In contrast, arable farming concentrates on crops rather than livestock.
  • Dairy farming is a type of agriculture that is focused on producing milk. This is different from raising animals to produce meat. Milk can be used to produce dairy products, including cheese. Species commonly used are cows (so-called dairy cows), but goats, sheep and camels are also used.
