  • FL workers receive a short "inservice" training from NGO staff at a regular staff meeting or additional training held by NGOs. They do some activities to combat misperceptions, learn how to see and report PVoT and watch a testimonial video of one of their colleagues. Goal: Help FL workers see that it's their job to combat traffickingGoal: Combat misperceptions about trafficking Goal: raise visibility of trafficking as an issue Goal:: build relationships between NGOs and FL workers
  • The testimonials evolved from the recognition/awards. I have some ideas for misperception activities.
  • At the end of the training, FL workers do a commitment exercise where they commit to doing their best to support PVoT. They receive a pin to wear in their daily lives to show their commitment. The group takes a picture. NGOs reassure FL workers that they are there in case of any questions.Goal: Help FL workers see that it's their job to combat traffickingGoal: Serve as a salient reminder in their daily work about their commitment
  • The commitment/pin /picture evolved from the banner and is something we've done with HCW before.
  • After the training is over, the picture is hung in a private location (e.g., doctors lounge) with either a box or form or card that can help FL workers get in touch with the NGOs in case they have questions about whether they should report something they are seeing. It doesn't take over official channels, but is just a supportive resource for guidance (and unofficial "reporting channel" )Goal: provide a reminder of trafficking and commitment Goal: provide a way for FL workers to privately speak to NGO (whether to report or just to ask questions about trafficking and receive support)
  • The form is replaced by a sort of way for FL workers to get in touch with NGOs for various reasons.
