  • Thanks mom. 🥺
  • I got an art kit!
  • This magazine has all the fashion from my age.
  • This record has one of my fav Nina songs.
  • Toni Morrison is a literary goddess.
  • Christmas Morning
  • Hey I'm Jo.
  • Ha! Jo has a boys name Laurie has a girls name.
  • Laurie's House
  • People call me laurie.
  • In the city
  • HONK!!
  • AMY!
  • Christmas morning to me seems like an important moment because of its impact in introducing the characters. Through the gifting of presents you come to understand their characters more. Beth who is shown to have a music note gets a record showing her love for music. Amy who is the youngest receives art supplies because of her love towards art. Jo one of the biggest characters gets a book. Writing and reading is very important in this book and to her. Finally Meg gets a vogue magazine, although that is not what she wanted her reaction shows her love for her mom and wanting to make her happy.
  • You shaved your hair off!
  • We don't even have any hair.
  • This scene although it doesn't seem like much is very important. It introduces Laurie who later on in the story has an impact on everyone. He is there for every single one of the girls at different times and becomes Jo's best friend. He plays games with Amy takes Beth over to his house where she then finds a guitar. He listens to Jo all day about the adventures of her new books, and helps Meg when she feels so out of place comforting her. Without this scene you wouldn't get a clear introduction to Laurie and who he is.
  • This song is for my family...
  • This scene/moment in the story holds a big meaning. At the time in the story Amy had just ruined all Jo's writing pieces in an art project because Jo didn't want her around while she was with Laurie. As known Jo had been working on this story for 3 months when Amy ruined it Jo, wanted nothing to do with her because of her frustration. This wasn't just a little fight but quiet a big deal. When Amy almost got hit by a bus in this scene Jo couldn't hold it in. She couldn't think of losing Amy and they mended this fight. It's so important because it shows how valuable family is and how much they care about each other. No matter what they will always love each other.
  • I am glad we are all here together.
  • It's been a crazy year.
  • I want to be a lawyer.
  • I want to be a doctor to help people like me.
  • This scene is one of the most pivotal moments in the story. Beth had just found out she was suffering with cancer and had to shave her head. She is only around 13 at this time and of course at that age something so important like that would make it very upsetting. For Jo shaving her head wasn't hard, but for people like Meg shaving her head was a big deal because appearance was important to her. Although this was the case Meg, Jo and Amy all shaved their heads to show support towards their sister.
  • This scene is important because of its symbolization. This symbolizes all the overcoming the girls faced and how even though in times they were scared, and fought, and almost came to death they stand before as a family. In this scene Beth who has overcome cancer performs in front of her whole school singing a song for her family, on a very special guitar Laurie's grandfather gave her. It is so important to see where her character has brought her, and even shows a theme that even little things can be scary.
  • The book takes the span of a year. With Cancer being beaten, a lot of personal discoveries, their dad coming home from the war this one year impacted their whole lives. What makes this part in the book is it's way of showing growth. One year ago they didn't know what was to come. They were preoccupied with gifts and they realize now there are more important things. Their goals for the future have all changed along with themselves.
