- It was a bright sunny day in the summer of 2010 in Long Island, New York.
- I was around three years old and my brother was six at the time.
- Grandma Roz was in her bathroom getting ready to shower.
- My mom was making lunch while my brother and I were sitting on the couch in the living room.
- For background, Grandma Roz is a family friend of ours. She was my mother’s mentor when she first started working as a teacher in the BPS. Although not family by blood, we treat her as if she were a part of the family as she has been like a second mother to my mom and another grandmother for both my brother and I and has attended many of the events that my brother and I have participated in, including school concerts, ballet performances (for me), and regattas (for my brother), as well as taken care of us whenever we were sick or needed to stay back while our parents were away.
- What should I make for lunch?
- Crunch, Crunch
- I was sitting on the second couch in the living room and doing what any normal three year old would be doing, exploring the world around me.
- What was that?!
- My mom decided to make some deviled eggs and watermelon and then, all of a sudden...
- I'll make some deviled eggs and watermelon.
