- Percy Jackson and his Best Friend, Grover, go to Yancy Academy for troubled kids. "My name is Percy Jackson I'm twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in Upstate New York." (Page 1)

- Percy Jackson fights back at the bull out of anger and kills it. He then goes with Grover to where his mother had told him to and they rest safe. "The bull-man screamed and flung me through the air." (Page 55)
- Percy and Grover wake up and meet Annabeth. Annabeth explains how they are at Camp Half-Blood. A camp for the children of Gods. The camp is a whole year camp where the kids can stay in order to be safe and train. Percy Jackson gets put into cabin eleven since they don't know what god is Percy's parent. "Annabeth announced, 'Percy Jackson, meet cabin eleven."
- Percy gets into a battle and falls into a lake. The water healed his wounds and he gained his energy back. They found out that day, that he was Poseidon's son. "Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God." (Page 126)
- A Centaur tells the trio that Zeus thinks that Poseidon stole his thunderbolt. He said they need to go on a mission to get back Zeus's bolt or Zeus will start a war. They have to kill three Monsters and earn the pearls to get to Zeus After finding the bolt.
