- The theme of light vs dark represents the different mood or feeling the character is going through. Rosaline, the girl who rejected Romeo is seen as a dark character and Romeo's love for her and shows how his love is full of mystery and sorrow. This represents quality of true love because it shows how much he loved Rosaline and the grieving over her rejecting him.
- For Romeo, now that he has found the love of his life, he sees Juliet like a light. She shines in the night and always brightens the mood. He also uses the word sun to represents his love for her and how he revolves around her. He also associates her beauty and compares it to the sun. This shows the quality of true love, because to Romeo Juliet is the sun.
- Juliet reflects on her Romeo death, soon to come. She describes him as better than the sun, and when he dies he shall make an impact on the two houses to bring peace. She also expresses her love for him by saying how heaven will be beautiful with him. This connects to quality of true love, she connects the stars to her love for Romeo. She says that with stars in the sky it would make the night more beautiful
