- Tom driving Gatsby's car is very important because tom stops to see myrtle on his way to New York. When he is there George tells him that they are moving west and Tom's reaction is a little surpising. "Your wife does," exclaimed Tom, startled."(Fitzgerald 98). Since Tom was driving Gatsby's car and that reaction later when tom finds out myrtle is dead he goes to see George. However, George blames him because he saw him in the same car today.
- This fight leads to the climax because it shows why everyone took there own car. After the fight tom told daisy all of the things that Gatsby does and what he is like. Which scared daisy but tom made daisy ride with gatsby as a punishment for what she did to him. "Tom" in Mr. Gatsby's car." She looked at Tom, alarmed now..."(Fitzgerald 107).
- Since the fight happened they needed to leave and daisy wanted to drive because she felt nervous. On their way home myrtle ran out to try and talk to the car when daisy saw her coming she swerved but when she did she was gonna hit another car so she swerved back and hit myrtle. "Well first Daisy turned away from the women toward the other car, and then she lost her nerve and turned back."(Fitzgerald 114).
