- My whole family is gone. Every single person that I held near to me. The people I spent the majority of my life with. Gone.
- The whole family is gone! Grandma and grandpa! Poppa! Momma! Tosha! Bibi! My Richieu! Now they’ll take Lolek! … Oh God. Let me die too!
- Why are you pulling me, Vladek? Let me alone! I don’t want to live!
- Come on, Anja. Get up. . .
- When will Vladek understand? It's been like this for years now. He has no perspective on the hurt I feel inside. Will anyone understand? At this point, mere existence won't help subdue the pain. . .
- It's been hard trying to keep my mind off of these hard times. Usually, I would have family to help me cope with these losses. I don't even know if they're alive anymore... which scares me. Am I alone in this world? Vladek is the only person I can turn to, but even he doesn't understand the pain I'm going through.
- What's going to happen? Why do people despise other groups of people? We aren't hurting anyone. It's really sad to see the world today. We have beautiful cities, amazing technology, and we're not even using it for the good of the world.
- At least I always have Vladek. He's a life saver. His ability to keep my head on straight has really helped me through these difficult times.
