- Hello, my name is Dr. Lawrence E. Kirk, and you sound like you could use some help. Try out these new wheatgrass seeds i've developed. I call them "Fairway Wheatgrass Seeds"
- The cost of everything has gone up a ton after the war, and I can't afford to rebuy all of my crops.
- Whew, finally finished planting my crops. I hope that a huge dust storm doesn't kick up and destroy everything
- My Crops! Now how will I get enough food to survive? I only have enough stored food for a couple days.
- Thanks, but how am I supposed to care for them? I don't have any fertilizer or water to give them.
- That's the best part! These plants best thrive when they are left alone without much nutrients.
- Using the newly formed Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration, Kirk distributes the Fairway seed to farms across the Prairies. Between 1937 and 1941, over 260,000 acres of land is stabilized and saved by Fairway wheat grass.
- Fairway wheatgrass was a major factor in bringing the Dust Bowl back to normalcy. Even now, much of the Canadian Prairies is covered with the hardy crop.Dr. Lawrence E. Kirk changed the look of the Canadian Prairies, and he was one of the main reasons that Canada made it through the dust bowl.
