- Christopher Asks a Coworker
- Do you know anyone who has traveled to Japan? I'm really excited to go, but I'm feeling overwhelmed trying to prepare and I'm worried I'll be stressed the whole trip.
- I don't, but my sister traveled to Egypt last year with some friends. She used an app called Basis on her trip. She said it really helped!
- He and his spouse are going to Tokyo, Japan. He's purchased the tickets and booked their hotels.

- On their last trip, they almost missed their train because they were struggling to communicate, and Christopher forgot the time difference and accidentally called his son in the middle of the night, and they spent way more than they intended when budgeting for the trip. How can he keep track of everything?
- Christopher Studies on the Plane
- Christopher asks another teacher at his school if she knows anyone who has been to Japan. He's tried to do some research, but the amount of information online was overwhelming. She suggests a new app her sister used on an international trip recently: Basis.
- Christopher Greets the Hotel Clerk
- Oh! Kon'nichiwa!
- Basis is easy to use, and the home screen is completely customizable! He can see the weather, what time it is on location and at home, add a calendar, and even calculate the exchange rate from yen to dollars. With the swipe of his finger, he can access common greetings with sound recordings for accuracy, or even study common cultural practices.
- Christopher downloads the app onto his phone and his iPad. He uses the long flight to study up on some of the phrases he wants to know upon arrival. The home screen, with everything he needs right there, is comforting to have, even though he doesn't need it just yet.
- Christopher says "hello" to the hotel front desk clerk upon arrival. She's delighted that he took the time to learn a few Japanese phrases, and he tells her all the phrases he's learned while they get checked in. This successful interaction helps him feel confident the rest of the trip is going to go just as well. Thanks, Basis!
