- Hernan Cortes was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain.
- In 1504, Cortes sailed for the New World to seek his fortune.He landed on the island of Hispaniola at the city of Santos Domingo.
- At age 14 with pressure from his parents, Cortes went to study Latin and law in Casablanca, Spain.
- IN 1519,Cortes led a small army into mexico,where he carried out the conquest of the Aztec civillization.The amount of gold and silver plundered from the Aztec made spain the weathiest nation in europe made cortes a very wealthy men.
- He became to powerful, they ordered him to return to Spain in 1528.He was allowed to return to Mexico but not to return to his position as a governor.He explored the New World.He explored Central America and discovered and named California.
- In 1541, he returned to Spain and lived the rest of his year on estate near Seville.He died on Dec 2. 1547.
