- Beth and her father Michael Teller, a detective, have arrived in a remote town to investigate a fire at a children’s home. They are looking over the town, on a rocky hill. Beth is a ghost as she died in a car accident, on her way to a birthday party.
- Rising Action
- Beth and her father visit the hospital to interview Isobel Catching, the witness to the fire. Catching informs them of her past and how she was kidnapped by the 'Fetchers'.
- Climax
- They go to the police station to meet Derek Bell and Allie who are both officers. They go to the Sholt Mansion to interview and get information out of Alexander's father. They are later informed that 2 dead bodies have been discovered, most likely a murder.
- Falling Action/Resolution
- Allie is worried for Derek as he hasn't arrived to work in awhile. They find Derek Bell dead inside his house with bordered up windows. Beth and Michael go back to the hospital to learn more about Catching's story. They are informed about the 'Feed' who would take the girl's colours away.
- Catching tells them how she escaped and where the 'tunnels' are.Michael, Allie, and Beth go to the destination that Catching said in her story where they find a Bunker which they assumed was the Sholt bunker. Beth and Michael go into the bunker and find girls dead bodies. Michael figures out that Alexander Sholt and Derek Bell were the 'Feed' and the tunnels were the bunker. Catching and her friend Crow meet Beth at the bunker.
- Catching is informed that she isn't dead but instead she can walk across worlds. Beth says goodbye to her father and she goes into the colours - the other side - where she is met with Catching's mum and Beth's mum.
