- Background Info:The last prophet sent by God (Allah), was prophet Muhammad (SAW). One day when Prophet Muhammad went to a cave near Mecca, archangel Gabriel gave him a visit. It is believed that he received the first revelation from the Quran, which is the holy book for Muslims. He felt that the revelation had been written on his heart. This revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that there was only one god.
- During that time, there were all kinds of religions, with a majority of people worshipping idols, which were all collected and put into the temple of worship in Mecca, called the Kaaba. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had the duty of spreading the meaning of the newfound Islamic religion.
- At first, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) privately taught small groups of people about Islam, and what it meant.
- We believe you.
- I am Prophet Muhammad, a messenger of Allah, the one and only god. Do good in your life, because everything you do will have an effect on you when you pass away.
- Once prophet Muhammad was ordered to make his teachings public, it angered the people of Mecca. Some even had plans of persecuting him. This resulted in Meccans giving Muslims a hard time, especially Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
- He must be not telling the truth! Does he think we're going to believe him?
- What is he talking about? He must be lying! He can't be a real prophet right?
- Before Islam, only two other religion believed there was only one god; Christianity and Judaism. This made Islam a turning point in history, by unifying this time where people were in constant warfare, and worshipping idols. Islam helped unify a huge majority of people under a monotheistic religion
