- He ran to Mosley old haul were he could finally rest
- Later on the man who recognised Charles tells a parliamentary soldier. A troop of cavalry are on Charles’ trail
- Later that day, at Bromsgrove, the horse lost a shoe and Charles was forced to take the horse to a blacksmith
- Charles army was forced to retreat at the battle of Worcester
- Thank you we will look out

- Charles walks on to Moseley Old Hall (near Featherstone) There Charles was able to rest

- Charles walks to Madeley (now part of Telford). He attempts to cross the river Severn to get to Wales but finds that Parliament is guarding all the bridges. He heads back towards Staffordshire, despite having really sore feet
- Charles’ army was forced to retreat at the battle of Worcester. Charles grabbed a horse and ran away from Worcester

- Parliament soldiers come knocking at the door of the hall. Luckily the family’s children are keeping a lookout and Charles was hidden in the priest hole

- At Bridport on the south coast someone at an inn looks at Charles and says, ‘Sir I know you’. Charles tells them that he doesn’t. The couple left that night
