- "I would like to purchase your lucky ticket sir," said Horace. (Horace proceeds to dig into his pocket to give the man 50 cents)
- "Fifty cents for the ticket," said the kind sweepstake vendor.
- Horace's lucky number was 13 becausehis birthday was the 13th and since he was now in his 31st year, he joined the 13 and 31 to get 1331.
