Ben was mustering up the courage to talk to Mary. While Ben was looking for a way to start the conversation, he looked at Mary's very ornate outfit. Mary thought that Ben looked blase and thought that was weird

Mary then explained how she thought Ben was going to say sorry for ostracizing her for a couple of days, but in reality, he was with his friend practicing to tell her how he felt. ben felt so abashed that he agreed to what Mary was saying. Ben looked behind his back looking at the adage and peruse the text.
