- Hey, Josh! Have you ever heard of the Philippine Constitution's 1987 Bill of Rights outlined in Article III? The one that brings up freedom of expression is one that I particularly like.
- Yes, Alexis. Likewise, I really like that one. According to Section 4, "no law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, expression, the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievance."
- As a student, I value this right because it will protect me from oppression when I speak up. And also, it is a way to protect democracy in our country.
- I concur with you. You're probably speaking of freedom from censorship. The right of the Filipino populace to express their disapproval of the government should not be restricted.
- This shouldn't, however, apply to you criticizing a classmate; instead, it should only apply to views that affect the general public.
- Yeah! This right also protects Filipinos from punishment for speaking up. Citizens should not be jailed if they are just expressing their opinions about a public issue.
