Stalin vs. Trotsky
I understand my dear friend Stalin
After being exiled, the Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin returned. After the war became too difficult, the Soviets promptly drove out the Provisional Government. "Land, Peace, and Bread" became a catchphrase for Lenin. The Soviets gained control of Petrograd quietly. Lenin handed peasants land and gave workers industries.
Lenin initially gave out an order to capture or assassinate anyone suspected of being an enemy for the revolution. He gave the order to the Cheka who were the Soviet secret police force, and together they executed about 300,000 people, including the Tsar Nicholas II along with his family.
