- I am Marco Polo. I first set out when I was 7 with my father, and uncle traveling over land along what later became the Silk Road. After reaching China, I entered the court of powerful mongol ruler Kublai Khan. I lived in china for 24 years.
- I soon became a trusted advisor to Kublai Khan and began recording my observations of the great ruler and his vast territories, palaces, arms, and riches. Idescribed the vast Asian trading network and, in particular, the thriving silk, iron, and salt industries.
