- General Travis and his army came through Gonzales on their way to San Antonio. They picked up the cannon and the flag. Later the cannon broke and was buried along the banks of Sandies Creek. It sat there for about 100 years and 8 months.
- 4 years later Santa Anna came across a record of the cannon given to the settlers and he wanted it back because he thought it was unsafe that the settlers.
- We did it!
- Us too!
- We are Trapped!
- Santa Anna sent 2 letters to the settlers requesting that they give the cannon back.
- The Texans dug up the cannon and went out to meet the Mexican soldiers.
- The river was too high to cross so the Texan men trapped the Mexican soldiers up and down the river over the next 2 days as reinforcements arrived.
- Covered by the fog the Texans made their way around the river. To the Mexicans surprise, the cannon blasted the first shot of the Texas Revolution killing one Mexican soldier.
