  • In Shakespeare's play Hamlet, right away we see things go adrift. The king of Denmark, Hamlets father, has died. To further the matter, his uncle Claudius married his mother to become the new king. Still grieving the loss of his father, this makes matters worse.
  • Climax
  • Deep into sorrow of his fathers death, Hamlet burns with hatred for his uncle Claudius. Hamlet curses the relationship between his uncle and his mother, for moving on so quickly after his fathers death. He curses himself and even for being alive as tension begins to build. 
  • Falling Action
  • One night after hearing numerous guards report to see the ghost of his father in the castle, Hamlet and his friends investigate. That night, the ghost appears to Hamlet to say that Claudius had murdered him and to kill him for what he had done. Hamlet agrees and he and his friends vow to not speak a word of what they had seen. 
  • Denouement
  • To cover his tracks, Hamlet pretends to be insane. One night as he's explaining to his mother that he is acting, he hears something in the curtain and plunges his sword through it. Lo and behold it is Polonius, Ophelia and Laertes father. The kings men chase after Hamlet for this.
  • After the murder of Polonuis, Claudius sends Hamlet of to England to be executed. Once he discovers this plan he escapes and returns to Denmark, where he finds his love Ophelia is dead and her brother Laertes vows to kill him to avenge Ophelia and Polonuis.
  • In the finale, Laertes and Hamlet dual in which they are both critically injured. The king prepares a poisoned drink for hamlet which the queen drinks and dies. As both Laertes and Hamlet are dying, Hamlet forces Claudius to drink the poisoned drink and stabs him, getting his avengement. Hamlet then dies and leaves Horatio the only one alive to tell the story.
