- A typical day, AT THEIR OFFICE TWO WOMEN CAME TO THEIR OFFICE FORTAKING ADVICE.FIRST WOMAN – I NEED ADVICE . MY husband beats me everyday. He alsothreatens me mentally. I have not told anyone about it. But I cannot tolerateit anymore.SECOND WOMAN- I ambeing untreated by my son and daugther in law.They abuse me verbally and threatens me mentally . FIRST WOMAN- I don’t want to go to police.SECOND WOMAN- Ijust don’t want to be thrown out of the house.I am living in.ZOYA- Unfortunatly ,the existing law is the criminal one whichdoes not offer these opinions.

- We have heard testmonies of several women.We have seen women protected from beatenso we need a new civil law to address this issue.

- Esteemed mebers of the parlimentay standing committee the present bill must be changed.We don't agree with the defintion of domestic violence being proposed
- Several womans organisations ,national commission for women made subissions to the parmentary standing commitee.
- The law needs to provide for temporary custody of children
- What is this new law ?
- This law is a first in recognising a woman's right free home and provides a comprehensive defination of domestic violence
- Now begins another new long journey
- Yes, now the government has to ensure that this law is implemented and enforced
